science-disection of a rat reflection

the myp area of interaction is approaches to learning.

we live in the RGV in Texas। the environment here is super hot, the air is sticky, and the weather is different. we dont have the four seasons and mostly its summer all year long since its super hot. the resources that we have are water, shelter, air [[oxygen]], and light [[heat]]. we need water, air, shelter. my responsibilities to the environment are to keep it clean and to recycle. i also need to try to preserve everything and just try to prevent animals from dying due to oil spills and other disasters.

i learn best when i am being reminded over and over again to do something. i also learn by studying and repeating/re-writing something over and over again until it kind of just sticks in my mind. i know this because i have been in situations where i don't study and i do poorly in quizzes or tests. i communicate my understandings by asking for help when i need it, and i say what i do know by participating in class and answering questions.

when i did this i found that killing rats just for disection was really unfair because i don't see you going up to adults and asking "excuse me, sir. i want to know what the body system looks like. can i kill you? because come on.. its for educational purposes." exactly.. i find it unfair to be able to kill animals for "educational purposes" and i just think its not fair. dissecting rat really kind of changes rats out in the environment because we're just killing animals and we're messing up the ecosystem.

by being able to actully touch the rat and the body parts, it was kind of like a hands-on-learning thing. i learned what they organs actually looked like and i learned like where they go and everything. i also learned their texture [[as odd as that sounds]] but i know why they look and feel a certain way, because thats how they help the rat do whatever its going to do.
